I wish I had cute funny things to write about but alas my boring life would only allow me to blog about doing laundry, grocery shopping, haircut, cooking dinner, etc. I did meet Brad for lunch today at Sams Club. Brad, Kaylea and I ate lunch for $7. Brad mentioned that he usually spends that much on his lunch. You gotta love Sams Club. Pizza and a CF Diet Coke for less than $2. We did have some excitement this morning. No TV to see what was happening but we heard a lot of fire trucks this morning and then Hannah's bus didn't come on time. We heard that a house exploded just up the road from us. Larry and I drove by there this evening and a little duplex was, for the most part, gone. Only 4 walls standing.
I am so sad that I missed American Idol this evening. I guess I can see the re-cap tomorrow.

Questions:
10 years ago . . .
I was a full time mom to Amanda who was attending BGSU and living at home, Sarah, a junior in high school, Brad, in middle school, James, in elementary, and Hannah who was still at home. Our lives were more hectic, we went through more groceries, and we lived In Bowling Green, Ohio (that was 3 moves ago). I made two loaves of wheat bread every morning and could cook 1 chicken and make it do for 3 meals.
5 things on my list of things to do today . . .1. Cut out a skirt with Hannah 2. Put the TV on the back porch 3. Attend an Eagle Court of Honor for Jake Hebert 4. Prepare a lesson for church 5. Put the rug under the kitchen table.
snacks I enjoy . . .Raisin Nut Bran is my constant friend
3 bad habits . . .1. I feel sorry for myself 2. I like to spend money 3. I like things done my way.
5 places I've lived . . . (or 15 places?) Columbus, Ohio: Wheelersburg, Ohio: Butzbach, Germany: Mainz, Germany; Glenville, GA: Ft. Stewart, GA: Butzbach, Germany: Bad Nauheim, Germany: Ft. Knox, KY: Killeen, TX: Ft. Hood, TX: Portsmouth, OH: Nurnberg, Germany: Whitewater, WI: Bowling Green, OH: Nauvoo, IL: West Lafayette, IN: Floyds Knobs, IN
5 jobs I've had . . .Babysitting - I hated it! Retail at the PX in Germany - I loved it. School Bus Driver - not the best job in the world. Subsitute Teacher - So so. Newspaper Asst. Manager - Did not like it! Mother/Nana - The best job in the world because I have the best kids EVER and the sweetest Grandkids!
5 things you don't know about me . . .1. I am really insecure. I always think every negative comment is geared towards me but people just won't say it to my face. 2. I feel like I always need a vacation. 3. I wish I were filthy rich 4. I have a pair of shoes that are 12 years old and I still wear them 5. I hate to floss my teeth
What if I suddenly had a million dollars . . .No doubt: I would buy a huge plot of land and build a 1 small house for me and 5 medium ones for each of my kids. Invest the rest (if there were any left) and then spend the rest of my life living close to my kids and grandkids
3 Ways I help the Environment...1. We have tried to switch most of our lightbulbs over to incandescent bulbs. 2. I try to stay home 3 days a week (mostly to save on gas as I drive my gas guzzling SUV instead of a cute little Hybrid) 3. I am not replacing my kitchen appliances with pretty stainless steel because mine still work fine.

IT'S DONE!!!
Okay, I was going to wait until I had the furniture put back on the porch (can I still call it a porch?) before I posted the finished pictures, but I couldn't wait! We really love it. The heater works great so the whole house seems warmer. I'm so glad that Sarah mentioned painting the gray door into the living room. I am going to move the TV out there today and if I can catch Larry and Brad home long enough, they can move the furniture out there too. Larry still has to get the wood to put a desk in the corner with some shelves but hopefully, he can do that next week. I really love the french door (everything french sounds fancy). Now, if I can get all of Larry's work JUNK out there so it isn't in my bedroom, the spare room, the basement, the livingroom, and the dinningroom, I will be doing great! OH SHOOT, I should have taken a picture from the outside. Oh well, I'll save that for later.

We're so close, we can taste it.....
I'm not so sure these pictures do the room justice. I think the paint is a little more orange than this, but the guy just left from painting so I couldn't take a picture in the light. Maybe tomorrow will be better. I spent the whole day wiping down the kitchen cabinets, moping the dust off of the floors and playing mindsweeper (yep, that's my new compulsion). I think with the green tile on the porch and the paint, it will have a 'southwest' feel. Maybe I will have to look for some cool pictures.

Hannah's New Haircut
This is for Amanda, so she can see Hannah's new haircut. This is after I flat-ironed it. Hannah loves it and it is really so much lighter. I even think it looks good when it is not flat-ironed. I hope she keeps it this way for awhile.
We had a youth party here last night. I think they had a good time. They played a little bit of Whose Line Is It Anyway and I think they played Happy Family. I made Crepes for everyone and I ate 4 then my stomach was upset all night long. The kids thought I was the bomb for making them with Strawberries, chocolate, ice cream, Cool Whip, powder sugar, etc. YUM YUM
Hannah is out of school today for a teachers workday. I don't know what we will do all day. Brad has class.
Bill Neville will be back to finish the porch tomorrow. I have to have the paint picked out today. I had decided on a light green (the floor tiles are green with charcoal gray and then a really light gray) then Miranda said to go with the green that was darker than the tile, I could see that and got on board. Then Sarah came and mentioned a clay type color like the foyer..... I can see that too. Then last of all, I asked Bridget she suggested the charcoal gray, red, or purple........ UGGHHHH! I really love to pick out wall colors but not when I have to match a floor and furniture (we are keeping the green chairs and the little couch out there). Too much stress for me.

Okay, the first area is where Larry's office is going to be. We are going to build a desk in that little hole and put shelves above it. The hole under the window is where the air conditioner/heater is going to go. The dinning room and the foyer with Brad's best side showing. I love it, I am just not sure how I'll react the first time I see a big scratch :(
Pictures
I haven't quite figured out how to post a picture and writing at the same time. That is my goal for the day. Can you tell the remodeling of the house is my life lately? The first picture is of the furnace registers. They look 'in-laid'. I love it. The french doors still need to be finished but you can get the idea. The porch is on its way to being done. I picked out a light green to paint it. They taped the walls yesterday and I guess they need to do that 3 times. The actual house is pretty much back together.
We are off to the Worldwide Church broadcast at 11 and then I am going to Walmart to get Hannah some fabric to make a skirt. Fun Fun! I'd rather stay home.

Mommasource
I think it was Amanda that introduced me to this site that brings out the Dear Abby in me. I now feel like I have an obligation to help all these poor moms with their problems. I have responded to those wanting to leave their husbands, those having a hard time breastfeeding, those wondering if 6 years is too long to wait to have another child, etc. What is happening to me? Do you think I could get paid for all my advice? Why do I feel compelled to give my opinion?
Thanks Amanda!
I love you.
Thanks Amanda!

The Dinosaur Returns
Okay, I am trying to figure out how to get the title in the right place. I think I may have done it this time. I need ideas of something to do today. I have to be out of the house ....... blah!
Monday, February 4, 2008
Well, you should be impressed. I actually put pictures on here, by myself!! So here are a few shots of the new floors and the new porch. I love the way the porch looks from the outside. I only had my little camera memory card thing and could only take 4 photos but you girls can get the idea. The smell in the house is pretty bad. I have a headache and have only been in the house a few hours today. I think we are going to love the finished project.

Learning the ropes
So, I accidentally let it slip to Sarah that I was trying to make a blog thing and now she is helping me. I am glad because I am sure this old dinosaur wouldn't have been able to figure it out by myself.
